pintura escondida (2005)

pintura escondida is a piece concerned with a hidden melody - the hidden painting of the title. I imagined it as a sort of concerto for absent soloist, with the orchestral material shadowing the soloist's intricate melody. The melody is never heard explicitly in the piece, although elements are allowed to shine through.

pintura escondida was written for the Hallé Youth Orchestra and André de Ridder and first performed on 4 December 2005 at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
